The Underground Paintings

 



Here are some selections from a group of paintings made with oil paint on a curious material known as aluminum foam. They are all fairly small - perhaps the largest one spans a little more than two feet in any direction. The peculiar texure of the material and the unforgiving nature of the surface led to some highly textured surface quality. These paintings were exhibited at Loop Gallery in Toronto.
